I hooked up my PS3 with the red, white and yellow cables, but it looks horrible.

PS3 looks horrible on new LCD?
I just bought a new LCD TV. It’s a Toshiba 32hv10g model.
These are its settings:
Color System: PAL, SECAM, NTSC, 3.58/4.43
Video Signal: 480i/480p (60Hz), 576i/576p (50Hz), 720p (50/60Hz), 1080i (50/60Hz), 1080p (50/60Hz) through HDMI
Display Resolution: 1366 x 768
Viewing Angle: 178 Degree
Picture Mode: Dyamic / Standard / Mild / Movie / Game/ User – NOWHERE TO BE FOUND!
Audio Output Power: 5W X 2
HDMI / Audio In: Yes
I’m not much of an expert on these things, but they’re pretty good, right?
All things considered, I hooked up my PS3, with the original red, white and yellow cables, with the “av/multi scart” option, ’cause it’s the only one that doesn’t black out when I select it, and it looks…FRICKIN’ HORRIBLE! OH MY DEAR GOD, WHAT IS THIS? JESUS CHRIST ALL MIGHTY! They look worse than a PS2! Edgy, grainy, blurry, and it makes me poke my eyes out. If I hook up the PS3 with the old TV, which is a SD one, it’s all crisp and clear, and it almost looks flawless, in comparison with the new LCD…
Such a disapointment…
Why is this happening? Should I return the LCD? Would an HDMI cable really work things out?
Please, help!

You hooked up the PS3 with a standard definition video cable. That yellow composite cable is incapable of displaying anything above 480i or 576i. You need to purchase an HDMI cable or a PS3 component cable in order to output high definition video to your new TV. Preferably an HDMI cable since there isn’t much of a reason to use an older analog cable like component. So yeah, an HDMI cable would fix all of your problems.

BTW, don’t spend too much on an HDMI cable. Most retail stores charge far far too much for them. You can get fantastic ones for less than ten dollars online. Don’t let someone in a store trick you into buying a 50 or 100+ dollar HDMI cable. They are not any better than the affordable ones you can find online at amazon, newegg, or monoprice, ect ect.

Thanks. Full 1080p is one of the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.
